Curled Walking Sticks
The "CURLED" Walking Sticks have been
sought after by people who enjoy using a walking stick for years. The stick is created by nature when a
vine
grows around a small tree. Both the tree and the vine continue to grow and over a
period of years and the vine will cause the unique curl of the stick. These
"CURLED" sticks are very difficult to locate and require many hours of searching
in areas where they may grow. I often think
searching for the stick is half the fun.
During the coldest time in winter, once the sap has had time to go down
from the trunk, is the time to harvest the trees. The
cut trees are stored in the loft of the
barn and given time to cure over several months.
Once the trees are cured, the bark is sanded smooth by
hand. A coat of sand sealer is applied and allowed to dry for several
hours. Three layers of "Polyurethane" are applied to provide water proof
coating.

or Hiking Staffs are
approximately 48-56" in length, however I can make one to any length.
Eyelets are cut through the top of the shaft and a leather wrist
cord is installed .
